Apple picking in Vermont
Car issues notwithstanding, we had a great time in Vermont last weekend. We stayed with our friends Susan and Mitch, whose son Max is just a few months older than Zoe. The two of them get along very well, and it is cute to hear their conversations. On Saturday we went to a great local food festival at
Shelburne Orchards, where there was lots of yummy food to be had: roasted corn, pizza, apple pies, and apple cider donuts, just to name a few things! There was also live music, including a set by Mitch and his buddies. The weather was beautiful, actually hot--not so common in Vermont in mid-September. After we ate lunch we all picked apples.
That night we took a quick trip into Burlington after dinner and walked around the
Church Street Marketplace, ending our evening with a trip to
Ben & Jerry's. After the kids were in bed we took a long soak in the outdoor hot tub, listening to the brook and gazing at the stars. I must admit that we were feeling pretty homesick for Vermont (I think that was Susan's plot all along). No immediate plans to move back there, though.
After we returned from our trip, I asked Zoe what she thought was the best part about it. She replied, "Oh, Mommy, just spending time with Max." Hmm...we may have to watch them when they are teenagers!
